WF470WIN outputs error messages with an error number and plain text. In most cases, the plain text is adequate to identify the cause of the error and possible ways to resolve it.
All of the possible errors are subsequently listed, and, in some cases are provided with additional comments. We will make every effort to supplement/correct this table, if you find it difficult to interpret WF470WIN error messages.
The errors are sorted according to error numbers. The error numbers are structured into associated error sources.
If you contact the hotline regarding an error, try to have the following information available:
Internal undefined program errors. File name and line number of the program source text are specified. Please contact the Hotline if this error occurs.
As for 1, however, without specifying the source text.
Internal program error: An element in a list of contents cannot be interpreted. Please contact the Hotline if this error occurs.
WF470WIN attempted to start another application via a file type. However, no program was found which is assigned to this particular file type. This message is output, when calling the help subjects, if *.htm files are not registered as browser application. In this case, install a WWW browser and link it in (e.g. using WINDOWS Explorer) to file types *.htm with the installed browser.
The WINDOWS clipboard is not large enough to accept the objects which you selected.
Possible causes: WINDOWS has not been optimally configured, too many objects were selected, the objects were too large, or an error occurred when interpreting the objects. Try to reduce the number of objects, and to copy them in several blocks. If you think that an interpretation error is involved, please contact the Hotline.
WF470WIN was not able to open the clipboard, or the data contained in the clipboard was not able to be interpreted. Internal program errors or a general WINDOWS problem are possible causes. If you can use clipboard functions without any other problem on the same computer in other applications, for example, WINWORD, please contact the Hotline.
You attempted to generate a new list, or re-name an existing list, and in so doing, specified a list ID which already exists. Use another list ID.
The value returned from a message box was not able to be interpreted. Cause: Incompatible MDC-Dll's, possibly caused by installing other programs. Re-install WF470WIN.
The PROP.SYS, LISA.SYS or PINHV.SYS file was not able to be interpreted. This can occur when porting projects configured with CP/M / MSDOS to WF470WIN. Additional information is provided under Transfer old projects
It is not allowed to set-up a project in the WF470WIN directory because of possible conflics with global lists in the "470"-subdirectory. This error may also appear when WF470WIN.EXE is not in the "BIN" subdirectory.
You have attempted to start WF470WIN from ZULIWIN. Although ZULIWIN was found, it was not able to be started. Please contact the Hotline.
You have attempted to start WF470WIN from ZULIWIN. However, ZULIWIN is not in the WF470WIN directory. Copy ZULWIN.EXE into the directory in which WF470WIN.EXE is located.

Group message for errors which occur in conjunction with reading and writing files. Possible cause: Write-protected data medium or insufficient space on the data medium.

This error actually belongs to the "General errors" group. WF470WIN did not receive sufficient dynamic memory from the operating system. Possible cause: Poor WINDOWS configuration or too many applications are open. If possible, terminate other programs.
WF470WIN was configured with a serial interface, which is no longer available when an online function is established, e.g. due to the fact that it is being used by another application. Open the WF470WIN program and check whether you can changeover to another interface, or close the other applications which are using the interface.
The fault can be caused as a result of a non-functioning physical connection or if the board "crashes". Check whether you have set the correct com port (refer to the WF470WIN configuration), the connected cable has been inserted and the TTY/V24 converter is supplied with +5V. Press the "reset" knob on the board. Test the physical connection using the "Operating keyboard" function
The communications from WF470WIN is optimized as far as the speed is concerned for the board firmware from V6.3. If you are working with a board firmware older than V3.6, then you must specify this in the WF470WIN configuration. Check this setting.
Otherwise, contact the hotline.
Check whether the required files are available and, under Windows NT that the registry entries and environment variables have been appropriately set. You will find more detailed information in the section,
Installation.Caution: In addition to fault messages from WF470WIN, fault messages of the Step5 Eprom driver or of the Windows-NT Eprom drive can be output.
In this case, first check the
The information regarding page length and/or characters per line have been changed.\nPlease check the line numbering and the column positions in the report.
The message is displayed, if the parameter character/line and line/page of the report list was changed (also refer to message 162). Check whether the configured lines lie within the permissible range by opening the report, and re-closing it without making any changes. WF470WIN then displays these lines using fault message 165 (refer below). Check the print-out, if the character/line value has decreased.
The information regarding page length and/or characters per line in the system data list/n do not coincide with those in the report list. Do you wish to accept the information in the report list?
Case 1: After accepting a project from the CP/M / MSDOS configuring, for the first time, you have opened the properties dialog box of a report list. The parameters characters/line and lines/page are at 0 in the report list. Accept the information from the system data list in the report list.
Case 2: You changed the parameters characters/line and/or lines/page in the system data list. This change can have an effect on the report list. Accept this information, if the change was really intended. If not, set these parameters back in the system data list to the original values.
You will find additional information under Creating a new report
The line number already exists, please select a line number which has not been assigned.
In the report list, a line is configured, which is not available due to the parameters lines/page and configured layout elements, for example, the report header or report footer.
First close the report, and then check whether the parameter characters/line and lines/page have already been transferred into the report list from the system data list (refer to message 162, case 1), or the configuring in the system data list is correct.
Otherwise, re-open the report, and assign the appropriate line another line number.
