Active window |
Screen window in which keyboard entries are displayed. An active window in Windows is one which has a frame which has a different color than the others which are inactive (e.g. blue title line). Only one window can be active at any one time. |
Binary file |
A file, which contains binary data (contrary to ASCII data), and which cannot be edited using a standard editor. |
Button |
WINDOWS operator control element: Simulates a button which when clicked-on with the mouse can be "pressed" (position the mouse cursor on the button + lefthand mouse key). |
Checkbox |
WINDOWS control element; a small box with text to the right. By clicking with the mouse, the function specified by the text can either be enabled or disabled. The actual status is displayed using a check symbol in the box (on) or an empty box (off). |
Combo box |
Input field with alternatives, which can be displayed and selected by "opening" (clicking on the arrow to the right next to the field). The input field itself can be also directly written into if this property is enabled. |
Container(object) |
An object in a list of contents which itself contains additional objects (contains a text group, text lists) |
Direct selection key |
Key codes, which in the menu items or buttons are identified using underscored letters. Instead of clicking-on it with the mouse, the same action can be made using <Alt>+key code. |
Disabled |
Disabled (or also de-activated) status of a WINDOWS operator control element, identified by the fact that it is gray |
Double click |
The mouse cursor is positioned on the control element and is clicked twice quickly using the lefthand mouse key |

WINDOWS control element to enter alphanumeric values |

Enable |
Enabled (or also activated) status of a WINDOWS control element, which is identified by the fact that it is displayed in black |
Main window |
Window which is first displayed when a program is started, and from where additional operator actions can be initiated. |

Graphic symbol with represents a specific object type. |
Context menu |
Menu which is displayed when the righthand mouse key is pressed and which contains the operator actions which are presently possible. In the context menu, WF470WIN always displays all menu entries from the "File" and "Edit" groups which are presently "enabled". |
List box |
This is a special WINDOWS control element which contains a list of entries. The list of contents of WF470WIN are List Controls. These are list boxes which have entries which are sub-divided into columns. |

Radio button |
WINDOWS control element to select alternatives, which are represented by two small concentric circles with text label to the right. If the alternative is selected (e.g. by clicking on it), the inner circle is solid black. |
Spin button |
WINDOWS control element to simply increment or decrement numerical values. It is generally rotated to the right next to the associated numerical field, and is shown by an arrow towards the top and bottom. The number is incremented by clicking the arrow pointing upwards and decremented by clicking on the arrow pointing downwards. |

Windows clipboard |
This is a mechanism, supported by Windows, where data can be read-in and read-out in one or in various applications. It is important to know that there is only one clipboard. If new data is copied into, and it is irrelevant from where, the old data is lost. |
