This documentation is intended to make it simpler for you as user to change over from the previous WF470 configuring software based on CP/M / MSDOS, to the new WF470WIN configuring package.
Under the assumption that you are already knowledgeable about handling WF470, the configuring-related details of the WF470 will not be discussed here. The "Planning Guide for WF470" as well as the "WF470 Video Display Module, Technical Description" documents are available for this purpose. Where necessary, we will refer to the appropriate section of these documents.
WF470WIN replaces the CP/M / MSDOS program package "WF470 Configuring". It offers the following functionality
Projects which already exist on floppy disks can be directly used. Further, all of the projects can now be saved on any drive. The files on the floppy disk are copied using the operating system resources (e.g. Windows Explorer) into a directory on the drive, or new projects are directly set-up there.
Projects under CP/M can be copied using a copying program CP/M --> MSDOS (PCOPY from Step 5 package).
The PINHV.SYS can be generated using KA470 (MS DOS version) in order to ensure the reverse interpretability of projects, which were edited using WF470WIN, using the previous configuring software, whereby the sequence chain groups available as single lists, and the protocol lists according to PROP.SYS and LISA.SYS are also compressed.
The project data compatibility is as follows:
The HMI is structured as far as possible, based on the CP/M/MS DOS configuring software. The operator should be able to intuitively understand how to handle the software from the program he already knows. For example, most of the function keys can be found in the pop-up menu opened using the righthand mouse key.
When configuring screens, the generation and parameterization of the elements has been significantly simplified by using expanded copying functions and the ability to enter pre-assignments (default value). For the first time, it is possible to influence the editing sequence, e.g. input fields.
The text- and protocol list configuring have also been made significantly more user-friendly.
The upload functions of the supplementary KA470 package are already integrated into the software. The supplementary ZULIWF package is supplied as MSDOS version and the generated files can be directly transferred.
The help texts of the previous configured software, to a large extent, have been directly used to label the individual dialog box elements. The dialog box elements themselves, offer, where possible, user-friendly entry, e.g. selection from plain text in a combo dialog box instead of having to enter a numerical code.
