This release adds support for communicating over Ethernet to Unidrive SP and Commander SK drives equipped with a SM-Ethernet option module. Ethernet networks are represented by a new connection type called "CT-TCP/IP".
In order to use SYPT with an SM-Ethernet option you must ensure that the firmware in the drives, SM-Ethernet modules and any SM-Applications modules is updated to the versions listed in the table below:
Drive/Module | Minimum Firmware Version |
---|---|
Unidrive SP | V1.6.0 |
SM-Ethernet | V1.2.0 |
SM-Applications | V1.4.5 |
SM-Applications Lite | V1.4.5 |
Commander SK | V1.6.0 |
The firmware for the SM-Ethernet and SM-Applications modules is located in the "System Files" directory where SYPT has been installed. The SM-Ethernet module can be updated via the web interface and updating of the SM-Applications module can be done using the Winflasher utility.
Please refer to the help documentation for more information about Ethernet support in SYPT.
Programming of the Commander SK LogicStick is now supported.
Projects that are created in this version of SYPT cannot be opened with any versions of SYPT prior to V2.1.0. When you open a project that was created in SYPT V2.0.x in this version and then save it, it will be saved in a new format and will no longer open in the V2.0.x versions.
A new set of functions blocks have been added for logging data into RAMFiles on the SM-Applications modules (RCD blocks).
Reference information for the SM-Applications, UD70 and MD29 targets platforms has now incorporated into SYPT's help file.
A number of bug fixes and other minor improvements have been incorporated into this release.
The V2.0.10 release adds support for PLCopen motion control on SM-Applications and SM-Applications Lite modules.
For communicating with a Unidrive SP you will also require a serial port on your computer (or a USB to RS232 converter) and a RS232 to RJ45 communications lead. The lead is available from Control Techniques.
You must have administrator rights under Windows 2000/XP/Vista in order to install this software.
To install SYPT simply insert the CD and the auto-run facility should start up, then from the front-end screen you may select to install SYPT. If auto-run does not operate, run the SETUP.EXE in the SYPT folder.
SYPT is uninstalled in the usual way: Go to Control Panel, select "Add and Remove Programs". Scroll down the list and find "SYPT" and click on "Change/Remove". Uninstalling will not delete any of your projects.
To help you get started with using SYPT, there is a step-by-step Quick Start guide in the SYPT Help file that will guide you through creating a project, writing a simple program file, downloading and monitoring it on a applications module.
To access this, either launch the help from the SYPT application or select SYPT Workbench Help from the Start menu.
Users upgrading from SYPT V1.X to SYPT Version 2 will find a number of differences in the look and operation of SYPT. At the same time many elements of SYPT Version 2 will be familiar to existing users. The basic structure of SYPT remains - there is still a Configuration Editor and a DPL Editor but the views and components within them have been extensively modernised.
Additional information on upgrading can be found in the SYPT help file accessible from the Help menu in SYPT.
SYPTLite users who are upgrading to SYPT Version 2 will find that SYPT is a far more powerful programming platform. For program development, SYPT mainly uses the DPL Editor. This editor allows programs to be written in DPL (a high level textual language), LD/ FB (Ladder and Function Block languages) and QLD (Quick Ladder). Quick Ladder is the ladder programming language used in SYPTLite and should be very familiar to SYPTLite users.
Additional information on upgrading can be found in the SYPT help file accessible from the Help menu in SYPT.
The operating system files for the UD70, MD29 and SM-Applications / SM-Applications Lite modules are located in the System Files folder of the SYPT Pro installation. You may use the Winflasher utility (available in the Start menu) to program these into the target devices.
